If Queen of Peace Friary is the "Head", the "Spiritual Center" is the "Heart" of the Brotherhood.

The Spiritual Center is a place of retreat, respite, and recreation for the Brothers away from the business and activity of their apostolates and responsibilities in the Twin Cities.  The Brothers’ Spiritual Center is located near the North Shore of Minnesota off of Lake Wilson. It consists of Our Lady of Angels Chapel, St Francis Friary, St Clare Guesthouse, and two hermitages.  Completed in 2012 and consecrated by the late Bishop Serba, it is the fruit of the original Brothers' vision for a place to be renewed by God and grow in contemplation.

Contemplation and hermitage were so important to Saint Francis and the early friars that their time was divided 60/40, contemplative/active. As a Third Order community, our time is more active than contemplative, but this Spiritual Center friary is essential to renewing our heart and fulfilling our mission well.  "Assiduous Union with God" is the primary task of every consecrated person, no matter the community. Here, we can be in loving solitude with the Lord and deepen our Franciscan roots;  we can experience the fullness of our Vocation, and order ourselves properly to Christ....from Head.....to Heart.
